On Tuesday we celebrated Ms. Molly D's birthday! To hand out the rest of her birthday treat to the teachers and get prizes from them she chose our friend Khloe to go with her! :) Happy birthday Molly! We also started off our week talking about fall! What is fall? What do we see in fall? Colors? We see a lot of leaves in the following colors: brown, yellow, orange and red. So we decided to create some leaf rubbing pictures! The kids had to take some leaves and put them under their papers. Then taking a crayon on its side they had to rub the crayon over the top to allow for the leaf's pattern to come about. They turned out really nicely! Now you may be wondering, "my child didn't bring one home." That is because throughout the year I am going to take samples of their work and save for conferences and for the end of the year! I have found in the years past that taking artifacts from the beginning of the year, middle and end show so much growth in that child than we would ever know. | 4K friends you have done such a good job this week, I know you all are SUPER DUPER tired but you are pushing through and being troopers! Bring on week 3, we've got this!! :) - Ms. Luce & Mrs. Johnson |
| All week we have been talking about the letter A! Uppercase and lowercase A's are the game! So we talked about how to form an uppercase "A" and then a lowercase "A". They really have gotten good at their writing of "A"'s. I am sure they would absolutely love to show their skills off to you. We learned that we do a big slant down, go to the top, big slant down. (I asked them what it looked like and they said a volcano!) Then we put some "snow" on our volcano to finish out our "A". And the lowercase "A" is circle around and little line down! |
Thursday we made some fall colors trees! On the bottom we have a little blurb about fall! "Red, yellow, orange and brown. All of the leaves are falling down. Days are nippy nights are clear. Summer’s over Autumn’s here." The kids had to glue this down on the bottom and then glue their trunk onto their paper above it! Then it was time to go to town ripping fall color strips of paper. Each student was given a half of a strip of yellow, brown, red and orange paper. They had to rip these and then place them however they would like on to their trees! I think I have gotten some of them hooked on trees. My friend Eli is so funny seeing green weeds in the rocks at recess. He is making sure that the trees won't wreck our playground and ripping them out! Awesome job buddy! :) | |
| Today (FRIDAY) we created stained glass leaves! BIG SHOUT OUT to Mrs. Johnson for making these for us, you rock!!! The kids each got a wax paper leaf. Then each table had a tub of orange, yellow and red tissue squares in the middle. They had to put one dot of glue and a tissue square. They are such good listeners this class, they really follow directions well! These will be hanging in our windows for the next week and then will be sent home next week Friday. They are already asking when they can take them home! Brings some nice color to our room and our windows! |
