Wednesday we had gym at the community center! Mrs. Zellner made up a really fun game where she had a row of hula hoops on either side of the gym. She named one "the store" and one "the north pole". We had to imagine that Santa ran out of toys and that he wouldn't have enough for all the kiddos in the world. So we had to help him out and be his elves/reindeer. The "toys" were in the "store" hoop and the students had to pick a toy, and sit on the scooter. The other student needed to be the reindeer and push the elf across the gym to one of the hoops across from them ("north pole hoops"). Then they swapped and came back to get another toy, etc. They loved this! :) We also decided to do our "mini" gingerbread houses or tepees as I call them! THANK YOU MRS. JOHNSON for putting these together for us while we were at gym! Then the kiddos got to decorate them today! They will be eating them tomorrow during our movie. It took all of their will power not to eat the candy and houses today but they did it! :) Thursday we had some coloring in the morning and Spanish! Thank you Mrs. Johnson for the wonderful snack of donuts! We appreciate it! :) As well we got to play outside with 3K and Mr. B came out to play as well. There is a picture of the kiddos piled on Mr. B in the snow! :) They were playing "off and on the ship". Today was our pajama day and the kiddos loved it because 3K, Kindergarten and some other classes had pajama day too with their Christmas party! Before lunch we started our movie, The Polar Express. After lunch we came back into our class and finished our movie. The kiddos have a lot of snacks that are coming home today in a zip lock bag. They had some of their treats but a lot have been sent home so they don't get stomach aches. Thank you so much to all that sent some treats and things for the class! As well thank you from Mrs. Johnson and myself for the gifts we have received from students and their families. You are so sweet, we get a gift each day working with your kiddos each day.
Monday we talked about Las Posadas. Las Posadas is Christmas in Mexico. They celebrate the journey that Mary and Joseph make from Nazareth to Bethlehem. The children in Mexico make/have dolls that are very colorful and bright holding Joseph, Mary and a candle. So the 4K friends got to make their own Las Posadas puppets. They did a great job with their coloring and cuttig out of their pieces. As well we had our first Christmas Concert rehersal at the high school auditorium. They loved seeing the auditorium and practicing with the big kids. Anytime to get on the bus a take a "field trip" they love. Tuesday we talked about Chinese New Year and why they celebrate it/when. Then we did DOJO prizes. The kiddos are doing a great job earning those points and trying their best to earn those big prizes. We also worked on our letter N project- N is for night. They used white crayons to draw stars on their N's and yellow chalk to add a moon and/or more stars. We also had our last rehersal before our big show at the high school today. Wednesday we had gym at the coommunity center and we talked more about Christmas and what we know about it. Mary and Joseph are Jesus' parents on earth and God is his father in heaven. We worked hard in centers and are doing our best to get ready for this Christmas holiday coming up. As well we had our Christmas Concert! Thank you to everyone that came and showed their support to our 4K friends as well as the rest of our school. They all worked so hard to put on a great production for you all. Thursday - Kwanzaa - centers, talked about the celebration while reading some of a book Seven Candles for Kwanzaa. Colored a picture of the kinara (candle holder), corn and cup for Kwanzaa. Had to make sure we used the correct colors so that we respected the culture and tradition. Red for the blood shed, Green for the land and Black for the people. http://www.officialkwanzaawebsite.org/celeb-procedures.shtml Friday we talked about Hanukkah and what they do during this holiday. We talked about the traditions and read a book about a little girl who was Jewish and did not celebrate Christmas but still had Jesus in her heart and life. We finally got to go outside for the first time ALL WEEK!! :) The kids were so excited! Eli got the best birthday present ever having the snow come out! The first thing they all did was lay in the snow and make some snow angels. Then they all went down at least 5 times each down the "super fast" slide. :) Hello 4K families,
I cannot believe that we are this close to Christmas already, when did that happen!? To celebrate this holiday we are going have a pajama day and our Christmas party on Thursday, December 22nd, 2016. Our 4K friends will be able to wear pajamas on this day with closed toed shoes like normal (no slippers please). As well if you would like to send along a small treat for the class please do, NOT REQUIRED. :) Let me know if you have any questions! Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas! :) Ms. Luce & Mrs. Johnson Prepare our hearts and remove the sadness that hinders us from feeling the joy and hope which his presence will bestow. My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my savior. You are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.

Snow pants and boots. What I do so that it's easier on the kiddos is I tell them to leave their boots and snow pants at school until Friday or the last day of the week and then take home. When it is snowing outside when they go home I will definitely send them home in their boots or in both snow pants and boots. :) Any questions please let me know. :) Or if you ever want them sent home during the week, let me know and we can do that! :)
