| On Monday we talked about ROY G BIV! What does this stand for? This stands for the colors in the rainbow - Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet. We watched a video with a song that told us about the rainbow and a little imaginary "elf" named ROY G BIV. We then had to create a ROY G BIV character with some wacky hair but it had to be in the correct order of the rainbow. The kids got really creative and did a fantastic job! :) |
Tuesday we added something new to our center time! We added sight word bowling and math equation bowling! There are two bins. One bin has pins with addition and subtraction equations on them and the other bin has sight words on the pins. The students' objective is to set the pins up and knock them down with the ball provided. When they knock down a pin they have to solve the equation (has the answer on the other side) or say the sight word. Then they go in the bin until they are all knocked down.
| Thursday we created some rainbow clouds with the beams in the correct order of the rainbow. Once the kiddos had their clouds cut out and glued their rainbow rays on it they had to copy down the correct color word on each ray. It was great to see the kids working together and helping one another out with their work. Teamwork is love and that is what Jesus taught us - to love and help one another in our times of need and always. |
Friday we talked more about rainbows and how they are formed. Then we created our own rainbow pictures and added details as we saw fit. The things that needed to be included in these pictures were: clouds, rain, a sun and the rainbow with the colors in the correct order. They did a great job displaying their awesome listening skills and artistic skills! :) These pictures are beautiful and very detailed. The video that we watched about rainbows and how they are formed taught us that rainbows are actually a full circle but only a semi circle shows up due to landscape. AWESOME! So some of the kids took to that and made it the way it is scientifically!
| We also did our skittle experiement on our experiement Friday! Take a dinner plate and create a circle in skittles. Then take a cup of hot water and pour directly onto the plate in the middle of the circle (try your best to not pour on the skittles, let it find its way there). Then watch the "magic" happen as the candy coating slowly melts off and forms an amazing swirl! |
