Monday we made some hand cut out eagles! Thank you Mrs. Johnson and Mr. Johnson for cutting these things out this last weekend we really appreciate it! We talked about how to put the eagle together, what the different pieces were and what to start with, etc. They did a great job listening to the directions! As well, when they were all done they had to write USA on their paper! GREAT JOB! Really brought some patriotism to our room! As well we went through my books during nap today and I am getting rid of some. I decided to allow the kids to pick one book now to take home and then they will get to pick one more the 6/7/17 during our celebration!

Tuesday we made some patriotic stained glass stars for our windows! Thank you so much again to Mrs. Johnson for helping us glue and cut these out! You are such a blessing to all of us here at SMS and in 4K! We love you! The stars turned out really nicely.

On this rainy Wednesday we had gym, had some play time outside after the rain subsided and made some drawings during our playtime. I usually draw cows and farm animals but recently learned how to draw a really cute frog and elephant. Needless to say every kiddo wanted one. They are so cute watching and drawing along with me to learn how to draw the animal.
Thursday we created fireworks with paint and forks. The students took forks, dipped them in the paint and had to attempt to make fireworks on their papers. They did this by sliding the back of the fork on the paper in a pattern. As well we got to play outside with our 3K friends and play with their "toy diggers". Awesome idea Mrs. Sinkula. There is a mama bird with her babies on the light above our back door and it is so cute to see the kids check on them every time we go outside.
Friday we created american flags with red, white and blue tissue paper. The kids had to put blue and white in the square at the top left for the "stars" and create some type of red and white pattern for the "stripes". They made their tallest tower ever this morning and man they were mad when I tried knocking it over to see if they could do it again! They all love that they get to color in their letter work notebooks now and do whatever they want in them. We made a "lava lamp" as well at our third recess. We took oil, food coloring, water and alka seltzer tabs and dropped them in. The reaction of all of these things working together create the look of a homemade "lava lamp".

Monday we made T-Rex X-rays! The kids got eleven Q-tips and a dinosaur skeleton head. They were to create their own dino skeleton. They could try and create a "real skeleton" or they could create a dino skeleton that had "fallen over" and broke into pieces. The students could break, bend, or cut the Q-tips to create their skeleton. They were really creative with their pictures!
Tuesday we had our first shadow day, today we had Kyle come in to visit. We read the book that our friends in 4K LOVE!! Crunch Munch Dinosaur Lunch! In the book there is a big brother and a little sister. Sometimes our siblings annoy us, but we love them and will always protect them from danger. So we were able to color and design our own baby dinosaurs or "Teris". We glued them to their paper and then put the egg on their paper. You can put the egg over the dinosaur and make it "hatch". Finally they got to name their dinosaur!
Wednesday we had gym class in the morning and continued learning about how to play kickball. They get to play the full game next week and they are very excited! As well we had Eli, Bode and Beckett come to visit us! We built our own colorful dinosaurs with different shapes and colors to create its body. We had to cut out an uppercase D and then could go pick out our shapes and put them on our dinosaur. Great listening 4K friends! They could only pick four spikes, four legs, one neck, one head and one tail! Shadow day 2 was a success with our new friends!
Thursday was our last and final shadow day! We had our friends Elsie, Ella, Lexi and Nolan come and visit us! We read the book Tyrone the Terrible which is another one of our dinosaur books in our classroom. Then they had to pick a color of dinosaur and background paper. They had to cut out their dinosaur and glue down. Then we painted their hand a color of their choice to create the dinosaurs spikes. They did a great job listening and working together to complete our task! :)
Friday we had another friend, Kane, come in and visit us. We did a dinosaur ABC tracing sheet after reading our favorite dinosaur book Crunch Munch Dinosaur Lunch! We then traced all of our letters to finish making the dinosaur picture and got to color it. Mrs. Zellner then came in for weekly reader and read a new elmer book to the kiddos. They colored their own Elmer's. During recess the girls thought of burying my feet, then Mrs. Johnson and then the 5K girls wanted to be buried too! Haha! Mrs. Ropson came to sub for the afternoon yesterday and brought a movie for the kids to watch, so we finished our movie Jungle Book 2 today.

**Again another congrats from 4K to the LeGrave family on their newest addition Ms. Audrey Grace! Khloe has been excited showing everyone the pictures all day! <3 :)

Zoo animals and Mother's day

Monday we made our class zoo book! Each student was given an animal and they were able to pick a color for the animal. They had to write down the color word in the space and then create their animal in the correct color they wrote down. As well we learned about the prodigal son and how we need to be happy with what we have in our lives. God and our families will always love us and accept us back, but we need to try and be content. As well we got a class photo of 20! :)
Tuesday we read the book Elmer the Elephant. Elmer is an elephant that is patchworked and in bright colors. This makes him different. The other elephants are gray. and makes them all the same. Elmer felt sad that he was different so he dyed himself gray with berries but realized that he was made the way God meant for him to be. He was missed when he was "gray". We are all unique and beautiful in the way that God made us! Love yourself! <3
Wednesday we had gym class in the morning and had center time.

Thursday we had some friends come in an do a Dairy presentation. We learned about how to milk a cow and different things that we get from cows and their milk. Thank you so much ladies for coming in! We got to make some cows with them and tried 3 types of cheese and chocolate milk! :) We finished up our Mother's Day Gifts - we made "You light up my life" mason jars with fingerprint fireflies. Great job! :)

Friday we made Pete the Cat glasses with Mrs. Gilley and had a fire drill for the Luxemburg fire department! Awesome job everyone! Happy Weekend! :) Happy Mother's Day to all!
