Monday we started talking about the letter U! We made our U is for umbrella projects in the morning! This afternoon we had our new friend Jeremiah the Bullfrog come in to visit us! He came to talk to us about the Green Bay Bullfrogs baseball team reading program! We each have a goal that we have set as a class to read x amount of books or minutes! March 24th if you meet the class goal you get 2 free tickets to our school's night at the field! :) Check out a previous post for more information.
| Tuesday we made our "Taking Care of our Teeth" books. We read through the book to learn about how many times we need to brush our teeth etc. We need to brush our teeth twice a day (once at night and once in the morning) We need to move in small circular motions. We must try to go to the dentist once to twice a year for a check up. We then had centers. They as always are doing a great job with their centers. We are working with clay right now to build our names with it and then we get to build with it using popsicle sticks! |
Wednesday we had gym class at the community center which is like a little mini field trip every week! :) They love going to gym with Mrs. Zellner! As well we had some terrific weather this week so we were able to go outside a lot this week! During our small group I introduced some of my friends to a game I like to call Egg Break Sight words! They love try to unscramble the letters to figure out the sight word! :)
Egg Break Sight word Game Easy to make and fun to play! Materials needed: egg carton(s), plastic Easter eggs, and bananagrams letters. You can use the sight words from our sight word bag or do your own as they grow! :) The way to play is "cracking" the eggs open and try to unscramble the word inside. Super fun!!! :) |
Thursday was the BIG DAY! We celebrated our 100th day of school, our Cake Walk and had our Valentine's Day celebration! Thank you so much to all of the families that helped our 4K friends with their 100th day of school shirts! It is now going to be a 4K yearly tradition! You all are so creative and they were just amazing to see! Thank you for helping out with our Valentine's Day celebration and sending valentines! :) And finally THANK YOU so much for sending cakes! We had 125 cakes, over 125+ children there, 6+ parents helping out with the cake walk itself which all = a PRICELESS day! Thank you so much for all of your love and support throughout this year! We all really appreciate it! :)
Elephant toothpaste experiment! Talking about our teeth and taking care of them all week we had to do some science! So we took hydrogen peroxide, liquid dish soap, and active dry yeast and made ELEPHANT TOOTHPASTE!! This is such a fun experiment to do with kids and watch as the "toothpaste" grows out of the bottle! To do this you need the following things: hydrogen peroxide, liquid dish soap, and active dry yeast. You need about 1-2 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide in the bottom of an empty water or soda bottle. Then 1-2 tablespoons of WARM water in a separate cup and 1 teaspoon of active dry yeast. (Mix these together in the separate cup) When you are ready take the cup with the warm water and yeast in it and pour ALL into the bottle. Give it a little time and watch it grow out of the bottle! :) SO MUCH FUN!!!!! :)
