On Monday we started our week off talking about our 5 senses! We started with our sight! We went downstairs as a class and put our hands on the family tree. We used our eyes to see what the colors were, where the other names and hands were placed, etc. We use our eyes for so many different things everyday that we do not even realize.
| On Tuesday we talked about our sense of touch. We had a hand print out and it had a couple different words on it (hard, smooth, soft and sticky) The kiddos were each given something that was each of those things. They glued these things to the correct finger and these pictures then were colored to make them "pop"! As well they worked really hard on their cat's for the letter C this week! Every week we are doing a different letter and it is amazing to see them work so hard on the letter all week! At the beginning of the week they say they don't think they can do it, and by the end of the week they are pros! :) |
Thursday we worked on the sense of sound! I had put five different things into five different easter eggs. We all sat in a circle and I shook all of them. I had each student pass each egg around the circle and shake it as they went. They had to think in their head (not out loud) what they thought was in the egg. Then once I had all of the eggs in my hands we would count 1...2....3... and crack it open on the carpet. It was great to see their reactions and hear their guesses! We can use our ears for all differnet types of things. We colored a sheet that had different things on it that make noise. For example: a piece of cake does not make noise on its own, but when you are making the cake and it is baking there is noise. Have to think deeper! :)
| Friday we made "scratch and sniffs". Using a strip of paper, jello powder and liquid glue. I wrote the kids names with liquid glue on the paper. Then we put them in a container and the kids had to shake the container back and forth. In the container was either lime, orange or strawberry jello powder. When these dried they were able to scratch them and sniff to experience the scent of the jello. As well they were able to stick their finger in the powder before hand to use their sense of taste. |
