On Monday we made our hand "crabs". The kiddos were so patient working on their under the sea drawing while they were waiting to paint their hands. Today we also got to cash in our DOJO reward points! Some picked the treasure chest, some picked tablet time or sitting with an older friend, and 9 of them decided to eat lunch with me because they got enough points! :) It was a pretty special day! We created our Iguanas today as well seeing as our letter of the week is Ii and we are working so hard on the formation of the letter. We learned the sound of the letter as well (using our amazing video below - with our sound and motion)
| On Tuesday we had to follow directions and see how well we could make a shark like Ms. Luce's. They are always asking me to draw things so I thought I would put them to the test. I had them each get the same blue paper and all they needed was a pencil. Then I drew a shark on the smartboard step by step. They were able to follow the steps and create similar but different sharks on their paper. Then they had to draw some fish and some details on their picture. As well we added something to our morning calendar called morning message. I write a short message to the kids but with mistakes in it. For example: "GooD MOrning FRIenDs. HOpE U hAd a GReaT WeekEnD! Ms. LUCe." They think it looks so funny but they are getting hang of finding the mistakes. As we move throughout the year I will start making spelling mistakes to sight words that they already know - such as you, the, etc. Centers are in full force here in 4K - Tuesday through Friday we have 30-35 minutes of centers. They are loving it, everyday they ask me if we are having them or not. :) |
Wednesday we had gym class right away in the morning as usual and you would think that would have tired them out! Not a chance! They were all over the parking lot and playground "climbing up the mountain" doing different physical activities. Great job participating 4K friends! Very impressive! As well today we worked in our letter notebooks writing our four uppercase and our four lowercase of the letter we are working on. Then drawing a picture of something that starts with that letter. During centers we have started talking about what an equation and the different signs that are in an equation, such as: =. +. We started talking about equations using bears and break sticks to separate the two numbers in the equation.
| On Thursday we had centers again and they are just loving them! Working so hard and doing a great job learning their routines! We are working on writing our names with the correct case, etc. As well this morning they had to learn how to work as a "team" at their table. We have been talking about sea creatures all week. So we reviewed what we can find in the ocean. Then as a team they had to leave their one piece of paper in the middle of the table. Doing this they had to make sure everyone was able to work on the paper. The pictures turned out to be pretty cool! :) They are really into playing zombies or cops and robbers at recess now! |
They absolutely love doing their letters and practicing their sounds! This is one of their favorite things to do! :) They would love to teach you the motions and sounds of the letters! :)
