Monday we talked about our big T word for the week, Transportation! We made some transportation flip books after talking about transportation for the air, land and water. Then we got to work on our letter Q project. We made Q's that have little pieces of paper on them to make it look like a patchwork quilt. The kiddos did a great job and are learning new ways to cut things out/using different skills taught to solve problems.
| Tuesday we had to work on an "assembly line" to construct some "cars" out of paper shapes. We had to first cut out the body, then the windows, lights and then draw the wheels on. Their next job was to add some detail to their picture - a sky, grass, etc. As well we had a visitor in our classroom come to help us out Ms. Cravillion - a nursing student that went to St. Mary's as a kid. Awesome! So we made some hot air balloons with paper plates. Our picturese then were cut out and put in the basket. :) |
Thursday we created some traffic lights! We used red, yellow and green paper. We had to talk about what the different colors meant when driving. Then they had to rip paper into little pieces to fill in the circles. Then they were asked to practice writing, SLOW, STOP and GO! They did a great job working hard on these! Outside it was very slippery but they still got to go outside! They had to "waddle like a penguin" or "crawl like a crab" to get up the hill to the line up line.
| Friday the day they all had been waiting for all week! We did our paint car racing! There were four colors of paint and one car in each. They got to race against a friend twice down the paper ramp. We did this to see how different sized cars moved at different speeds, to see the different tracks they made and to have some FUN with transportation! During weekly reader with Mrs. Zellner today they learned how to make snowflakes from coffee filters! Khloe was our DOJO champion this week, good job girl! |
