Monday we started off by reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. Then we painted some halves of egg cartons to create our caterpillar bodies. The students were to cover the entire "body" in the paint color their table had. They did a great job listening to this direction and they turned out great! :) Thank you Mrs. Johnson for doing our antennas for us and getting them ready to go home on Tuesday! :) As you can tell they turned out great and they were very excited to take them home! :)
Tuesday we were gone all day! We had a big day at the Wildlife Sanctuary in Green Bay and the Weidner Center on the UWGB campus. We first went to have a class at the Wildlife Sanctuary! We got to meet three animals - a box turtle, a fox snake and an adorable possum named Pickles. We learned about these animals and their stories and a little bit about each species. Then the kids got to explore the Sanctuary with their assigned chaperone group. Thank you so much to Mrs. Barbiaux, Mrs. Pearson, Mrs. Mertens and Mrs. Ducat for coming along to help us out, we really appreciated the help! :) After lunch we traveled to the Weidner Center to see the production of Cat in the Hat! It was great to see all of their reactions to the different things they did on stage and the actual theatre as a whole.
Thursday we made some "smashed" butterflies! When the kids heard this at first they thought we were literally going to smash some butterflies but no, no! We made some butterflies by taking a white piece of paper and paint. We took the paint (colors they wanted) and put randomly on one half of the paper. Then a line of one color down the middle for the body. Then we folded the paper in half and they got to squish/smooth it out to create a pattern on the inside. Then we counted 1...2...3 and opened to reveal their butterfly creations! Each one as unique as them! :) As well we watched a video from Bible Beginners about the first Easter and colored Easter sheets.
