Today we talked more about bike safety! The kids knew a lot more about bikes and how to use them safely than I realized. We discussed that when riding a bike we need to always make sure to wear a helmet. We do this to protect our heads, God only gave us one head and one brain and we need to protect it. As well we talked about making sure to wear closed toed shoes to make sure we protect those toes and feet! When riding on our bikes, we also need to make sure to look left, right and in front again and then go. |
Campfire safety is huge! We all love a good campfire with s'mores, etc. BUT we need to remember that fire is dangerous if not dealt with correctly. Remember to build some sort of barrier around your fire - if it be stones, a metal ring, etc. This is very important so that the fire does not spread. As well they know that running around a fire is not a good idea, we could fall in, get burnt, etc. |
Today we talked about sun safety and why we need to protect ourselves! Being in the sun during the summer is a lot of fun but we need to be safe when doing that. The three most exposed areas on our bodies are: our faces, neck and arms. We need to make sure to remember to wear sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses if needed, etc. Make sure to have fun in the sun, but be safe doing so. |
In the water and around the water this summer we need to be aware. When you are walking or running around bodies of water, if that be a lake, a pool, a river, etc we need to know what to do and not do. Make sure that you are walking when you are near water due to slipping and falling into the water, drowning, currents, etc. When in the water make sure to wear a swimsuit, sunscreen, if going under the water goggles, etc. Make sure you are safe but also respectful to the creatures and animals that are living in the water - that is their home and we are a guest. |
Finally we talked about first aid. If we wash our hands this will allow us to be safe during the summer and have a happy/healthy summer. When you fall or trip, etc make sure that you tell an adult, get it cleaned up properly and put a bandage on it. Protecting ourselves this summer from germs and getting infections is critical to having a terrific summer! |
