Monday we did the egg test! We looked at two eggs that were brown and white. What are these? Eggs!!! They are both eggs, they may look different but they are the SAME on the inside! We are all the same inside but we look different. This makes our world a better place and a more interesting place. We may look different, we may have different views, etc. but we all need to learn to live together and respect one another! :) Then we did some Martin Luther King Jr.'s coloring sheets!! We talked about who Martin Luther King Jr. was, what he did, etc. As well we did our R is for Rainbow letter project. The kiddos did a fantastic job! They had to put a strip of "rainbow" and cut it! Way to go, they turned out great!
| Wednesday we created I have a Dream headbands! They were all so excited to make these headbands! We worked very hard on them! We made sure that our worlds were blue and green and that our hands were two different colors (brown and tan/peach). They loved these headbands wanting to wear them all day, throughout school showing their hard work!! |
Thursday we made I have a dream hand projects. We had to cut out our two different colored hands and our heart. We glued all of this down and then they came to me to tell me what they dream of being when they grow up. It was great to hear what they dream to be and their different views of differing jobs. Such as - wanting to be a police officer because they want to drive the car, wanting to be a mom because they want to make supper, wanting to become a teacher to learn more about people, etc. Many think that adults cannot have more dreams than what they already do, but we can all have multiple dreams! :) What is your dream?
| Friday we had a discussion and review of Martin Luther King Jr. and his life. As well we talked about diversity as a whole and how we need to try to love everyone no matter our differences. We read the book Martin's Big Words and the kiddos were very intrigued to learn more. At the beginning of the week we could not remember his full name and today they were easily able to tell me his name fully (Martin Luther King Jr.) YAY!!! :) |
