We were focusing on the blend "sh" this week that makes the sound "shhhhh". We really emphasize that yes we know the individual sounds of "s" and "h" but what is the blended sound when they are brought together as "friends"?? We will be continuing our blends throughout the rest of the year and then ending with review of all letters and blends. (-qu, -ou, -ue, -oi, -th, -sh, -ng, -oi, -th, -ng, -di, -ee/-or, -ie, -oa, -oo, -ar and -er).
Monday we got to go to Ms. DuBois's classroom in 4th grade and meet a chicken named Rudolph! The kids were excited and some were a bit nervous to pet him, but great experience for them overall! :) Thank you Ms. DuBois!

Monday we worked on the lifecycle of a frog and talked more about that. We created some accordian frogs to display our new knowledge of the frog life cycle. (Thank you to Mrs. Jadin for coming in to be with us :)) They turned out really nice and the kids were able to fully learn the lifecycle of a frog. (Egg, tadpole, adolescent frog (4K frog) and then an adult frog) Tuesday we made paper plate frogs. Wednesday we measured our height and our jumps in frogs. The kids were to measure their distance they could jump in frogs on the floor. As well they had to work together and measure one another in the hallway to see how many frogs tall they were. We talked about how frogs are able to jump certain distances, depending on their size. As well, I was gone on Wednesday, so our sub Mr. Pearson skyped me and I got to wake the friends up from their nap on the phone, their faces were priceless! :) Thursday to end our week on frogs we worked on sequencing. We read the book, The Lady who Swallowed a Frog, and tried to remember the order or sequence that occurred.
