On Monday we had our DOJO Rewards! :) They love those rewards, they ask all of the time when is it going to Monday already!? Our DOJO Champion (the student with the most points that week) was Ash the week before last and last week it was our friend Mr. Eli! Way to go! Today we also went to mass again and I am very proud of my 4K friends! They were sitting nicely, participating in prayer, not touching the books! AWESOME! As well we did our letter project today - J is for Jaguar! We went over the sound of J and our song for the week. They are doing a great job with these songs and sounds. I am working on getting these on a cd for you all to have and practice with your child. :)
| Today we started talking about the election and who are candidates are - Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Then we talked about what the American Flag was and why we needed to use the exact colors that are on the flag to respect our ancestors that came before us to work so hard for this flag. Then I traced each child's head using the smartboard light to create that silhouette of their head. Then they were to create red and white stripes with a blue corner and stars. They did a great job listening to directions and working hard on their heads! They turned out great! We also had centers which they are getting much, much better at! Very proud of them! Happy Birthday Blake! As well today we had our warm fuzzy reward today! They each were able to bring in a stuffed animal for the movie and we watched Tangled. |
On Wednesday we talked about who are new president of the USA is - Donald Trump. We also had gym this morning which they love! We only have one more outside gym until spring and then it is indoor gym for winter. We worked in our notebooks on the letter Jj and came up with a lot of different things that start with J that we could draw in our notebooks. As well THANK YOU to the Merten's family for sending us a grow in water pumpkin we are watching it! We will see what happens over the weekend. Something I found during nap is using different stations really helps the kiddos sleep. I have found that the Chris Rice Station on Pandora really helps them calm down and sleep for nap. It is very calming and he is a great gospel singer. I highly recommend it.
| Today we read the book Grace for President. We listened to why she wanted to be president and what she would do for their school in the book. Then we made our voter registration cards. We discussed why it is important to register to vote and that many have fought for this right! We can change the world with just one vote. They were very into the book, they remembered a lot of what she was saying and kept saying over and over, "I'm voting for Grace tomorrow!!!" |
Friday we read the book Duck for President. We heard why Duck should be president. Then we discussed both candidates and what their good points were. Then each student was given a ballot. They were to color in one circle for either Grace of Duck and bring back to me folded. I told them, you don't have to tell anyone who you voted for but you can if you would like. And the final results were Grace - 9 and Duck - 11. We had another great day here in 4K! See you all next week! Make sure to check below why they voted for Duck to be President! :) And Happy 5th Birthday to Mollie L! :)
**AND THE WINNER IS... (IN 4K)**
It was a close race - Grace - 9 and Duck - 11. Duck has won our hearts in 4K! Why did we vote for this person to win the "election"? Here are a few reasons our voters gave to why they voted for Duck:
1) Because I went to feed the ducks at the Wildlife Sanctuary and they were nice.
2) I like ducks.
3) Ducks eat corn.
4) They are cute and soft.
5) I got to pet a duck before.
6) He got the most DOJO points and got the trophy to be champion.
