Monday we talked about what community helpers are and looked at a few examples of some: a doctor, teacher, construction worker, nurse, etc. We did our letter S projects as well! S is for Snake! They had to cut out their S and glue onto their paper. Then they had to each come to the back table and count out 13 dots (whatever colors they wanted). Then had to add their eyes and tongue! They are getting so good at cutting and following directions just blown away at their growth!
| Tuesday we created our Community helper flip books! Each page has a different community helper on it! It either says "I am a construction worker. I am a..." They had to color their pictures nicely and trace their sentences before we could add their heads. These books are awesome because they can be whatever community helper the book says they are. As well it shows them that no matter boy, girl, small, big, etc. everyone can be a community helper in some way. |
Wednesday we had gym class and Jump Rope for Heart! The kiddos had a great time doing the different stations that Mrs. Zellner had set up for them! As well during centers we used our different games, manipulatives, etc. to work on our math, writing, etc. and tablets. At the back table we got to use the extra "play dough" that the kids made in art to play with but work on writing our names with it. They had to form long snake like pieces and then create the letters of their names with them.
| Thursday we talked about Dentists being community helpers and why they are important. They are important to our community because without them we would not have our nice teeth! They keep our teeth healthy which results in a healthy body. So we created some clean healthy teeth! The kids had to cut out their tooth, and using a toothbrush as a paint brush they had to brush the tooth with white paint. The tricky part was how to paint it - they needed to paint in circular motions just like they have to brush their own teeth. As well Father Suess came in to teach us a bit more about God. :) |
**PICTURES TO COME**
Friday Ms. Luce was gone so thank you Mrs. Sinkula for coming in to sub for us. We talked about construction workers and why they are important community helpers within our community. We then made our own "tool belts" to go along with the theme for our last day. As well we got to make some police cars because police men and women are some big community helpers. We made them out of paper plates, paint and construction paper! Thank you again Mrs. Sinkula for your help!!
