| Monday we went over our DOJO prizes and the kiddos were super excited because they hadn't gotten any from the week before. (combining the week before and the two days before Thanksgiving) They did a great job and our champion again was Ms. Holly! Way to go girl! We also worked hard on getting our M is for Mouse project done! They turned out really nice! We did not go over how to do the whiskers but some of the kiddos just looked at the example and figured it out! Wow they are getting so big! :) Also during our morning recess Noah and I were drawing with chalk on the black top, we were drawing flowers. We said it was to "confuse" the snow and weather. |
I guess our drawings worked, the drawings of flowers "confused the snow". Today we had centers but we also made our little mangers for baby Jesus to lay in. They had to color their paper plates brown and then we put a yellow star on the top. This is what brought the shepards and wise men to the manger and the angel Gabriel. Then we glued feathers on the bottom as a "bed" for the baby. We had a discussion before hand about who came to visit the baby and what they used to find the baby Jesus. They did not have GPS or cell phones, they had their faith in and love of God to help them through their journey. As well as the angel Gabriel to bring them the good news that Jesus was born in the city of Bethlehem.
| Wednesday we had gym class at the community center! It is such a blessing to have this community so willing to help our school out and let us use their gym! As well we had our notebook work today and the kiddos love this because they get to show off their writing skills of the letter that week. As well they get to draw a picture of something that starts with that letter. This week we were working on the letter Mm - we came up with many things that start with Mm that we could draw: mouse, muffin, mitten, mom, magnet, mummy, Mary, Ms. Luce, etc. Centers are getting better and better! Today we were working on our phone numbers with Ms. Luce at the back table and we are creating our own "cheer moves" to go with each number that we say. Good muscle memory to help us remember our phone numbers. :) Next comes our addresses. |
Thursday we went to church instead of our scheduled day on Monday. We felt it was good for the 4K friends to experience a Holy Day Mass. They all did great! Thank you to Mrs. Ropson, Mrs. Babler, Mrs. Kostichka, Ms. Kickbush and Mrs. Johnson for your help!! - Centers and Holy Day church. We also had centers again today and are working hard on those phone numbers and addresses! Some of our friends are working on putting the sight words we know into sentences. We are working on finger spacing when writing, adding a period and then when reading tracking each word with our finger. Great work friends!
| Friday we made stained glass nativity ornaments for our windows - will be sent home before Christmas break. They followed directions flawlessly and really did a great job on their "ornaments". This morning when they got here it was the sweetest thing to see them playing "teacher during centers" at the back table. They would do a quick "lesson" and then switch. They went over their sight words, did their math on their fingers, and played the addition/subtraction gumball game! I can definitley see that they all are needing a long break for Christmas, seem to be getting on under one another's skins lately. Great job this week 4K! |
